Digital marketing has transformed how organizations communicate with customers, develop brand relationships, and influence purchasing decisions. Consumers increasingly use social media platforms, search engines, digital advertisements, online reviews, influencers, mobile applications, and brand websites to discover and evaluate products before making purchase decisions. This conceptual article examines the relationship between digital marketing strategies and consumer purchase intentions, with particular attention to social media marketing, content marketing, influencer marketing, electronic word-of-mouth, personalized advertising, and online customer experience. Drawing upon the Theory of Planned Behavior, the Stimulus–Organism–Response framework, and the Information Adoption Model, the article argues that digital marketing does not always influence purchase intention directly. Its effects are frequently transmitted through brand awareness, brand image, perceived value, customer engagement, information credibility, satisfaction, and brand trust. Evidence from Pakistan and other emerging markets suggests that consumers respond positively to relevant, informative, interactive, and trustworthy digital communication. However, privacy concerns, misleading influencer endorsements, excessive advertising, poor website performance, and perceived transaction risks can weaken consumer confidence. The article concludes that organizations should adopt an integrated, ethical, customer-centred, and data-informed digital marketing approach. Successful strategies must combine persuasive communication with credible reviews, transparent promotional practices, personalized experiences, reliable digital services, and continuous performance measurement.
